What Is Episonic
Episonic is an AI-powered podcast intelligence platform that helps interview-format podcasters understand their audience, find the right guests, and plan better episodes — before they hit record.
What Episonic Does
Episonic sits in the pre-production phase of podcasting. Pre-production is the planning, research, audience understanding, and guest discovery that happens before anyone presses record. It is the phase of the podcast workflow that most determines episode quality — and it is the only phase without a dominant tool.
The platform is built around an AI assistant named Lauralai. Lauralai is not a general-purpose chatbot. She is a production partner with access to a database of 640,000+ podcasts and 150,000+ enriched guest profiles. She maintains persistent context about each show — remembering the host's audience persona, past guests, editorial preferences, and content strategy across every session. A host's 50th conversation with Lauralai is informed by their first.
Episonic operates across three domains. Planning covers audience intelligence, listener persona creation, and episode strategy. Production covers guest discovery, research automation, interview preparation, and segment briefing. Promotion covers growth strategy, social content planning, and cross-show exposure through a feature called Guest Pass.
Behind the conversation, Lauralai executes 80+ specialized tools — searching guest databases, generating research packages, saving episode progress, building interview briefs, and creating platform-specific social copy. The host talks to Lauralai like they would talk to a producer. Lauralai translates that conversation into structured, production-ready deliverables.
What Episonic Is Not
Episonic is not an audio editor. It does not record, edit, host, or distribute podcasts. It does not generate AI voices or create synthetic content. It does not replace the host's creative judgment.
Episonic is designed to work alongside the tools podcasters already use. Recording tools like Riverside and Zencastr capture the conversation. Editing tools like Descript and Adobe Podcast polish it. Hosting platforms like Buzzsprout, Podbean, and Libsyn distribute it. Episonic ensures the conversation is worth capturing, polishing, and distributing in the first place.
The Core Insight
Every decision a podcaster makes — what topic to cover, which guest to book, how to structure the conversation, what to post on social media — depends on one question: who is listening?
Most podcasters answer that question with gut instinct, download numbers, or generic demographic assumptions. Episonic answers it with a named, data-grounded listener persona built from the actual content of the show. That persona becomes the lens through which every feature operates. Guest recommendations are scored against the persona. Research angles are shaped by the persona's interests and challenges. Episode structures are designed around what would hold the persona's attention.
The persona is not a demographic spreadsheet. It is a richly detailed fictional character — with a name, a bio, aspirations, daily routines, and an OCEAN personality profile — inferred from the show's back catalog. Hosts frequently say the persona feels like someone they already know. That recognition is the point.
Who Built It
Episonic was founded by Hoyt Prisock, a serial entrepreneur and technologist. His previous ventures include exits and partnerships with Match.com, Ancestry.com, and MyFamily.com. He served as EVP at NetRoadshow (digital roadshow and capital markets SaaS) and founded Attention Sciences / BuyerLens (adaptive B2B marketing using behavioral analytics).
He built Episonic after experiencing the pre-production burden firsthand as host of "Behind the Swipe," a podcast about post-divorce dating in midlife. What started as frustration with 18-hour episode prep cycles became a platform designed to compress that work into minutes — without sacrificing depth or creative control.
